Anibal J. Vega

Mr. Anibal Vega joins EVYP in January 2017 in the role of Executive Director. Anibal brings over 20 years in non-profit work across Chicago , he most recently served as the Vice-President of Community Engagement for the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter. Prior to that, Vega was the Executive Director at The Center for Community Development Initiatives for almost 10 years. He has also worked at the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County, Agape Youth Development and Family Support Services and the Back of the Yard Neighborhood Council.

Anibal earned his Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and Nonprofit Management from Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois and currently pursuing his Masters degree. In addition, he has received several certifications from the University of Notre Dame in Business Management and Nonprofit Leadership and Development.Before his start in non-profit work, Anibal served in the United States Army for 12 years.

Julia Gerasimenko

Julia became part of the EVYP team in August 2013. She oversees the College Success and Family Support Programs. Before coming to EVYP, Julia worked with students at the City Colleges of Chicago through One Million Degrees. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Grinnell College. She is the first person in her family to earn a college degree in the United States and is thrilled to be helping other students achieve the same goal.

Jenn Romero

Program Coordinator

Jenn joined EVYP as the Program Coordinator in August 2015. With a passion for youth engagement, Jenn worked as a music teacher and aftercare program coordinator at a Catholic elementary school in Ukranian Village. Jenn has a degree in International Studies from the University of Chicago and is involved in Chicago’s theater, film and music scene as a composer and music director. She looks forward to using her diverse collection of travel and creative experiences to encourage confidence and advancement in our students.
